Lee Lee Nyonya Beading Shoes

Nyonya beading shoes (or Manek shoes as it is locally known) originated from the 'Peranakan'heritage and women wore them as part of their traditional costumes. They were most popular during the 1930's and worn during special occassions like birthdays and weddings, or simply any occassion. The art of making them orginated from the Straits of Malacca, and through the years this delicate artwork is still confined to this ethnic group. The process in making these handiwork is most time-consuming because of its intricate designs.
The method in making these shoes is by stitching various tiny colored glass beads and sewn onto a piece of cross-stitch cloth.

My deep passion for this hand-work (self-taught) has enabled me to create many designs for my customers, and as you browse through, you will see the many creations for you to choose from to complement your dressing for any occassion.

As you scroll down, you will be able to view a wide selection of designs that I have created for you to purchase. They comprise floral, fruits, birds or even simple criss-cross patterns invoking that feminine and elegant wear when worn on your feet.

The prices for the individual designs are listed for your easy guide, but please do bear in mind that we do not make ready-to-wear shoes as different customers have different feet sizes. We only sell the beaded shoe patterns (sold in pairs), you will need to bring it to a shoe-maker to create your desired shoe designs.
